Lawrence J. Capelli, 72, of Sarasota,
Fla., formerly of Bridgeton, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in Doctors
Hospital in Sarasota, following a short illness.
Mr. Capelli was born in Lawrence Township and was the son of the late Joseph
and Theresa Bush Capelli. He had resided in Sarasota for 20 years and prior
to that had lived in Hopewell Township and Cedarville.
He had been employed with the former Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton
for several years and retired when the plant closed.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U. S. Army as a
Squad Leader with Company “K”, 31st Infantry Division and also served with
the 47th Infantry Division. He received the Combat Infantryman’s Badge,
Korean Services Medal and four Bronze Stars and also an Army of Occupation
Medal (Japan). He was a survivor if the Battle of Chosin Reservoir.
He was a member of the American Legion Post # 0266 in Fruitville, Fla. and
the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Chosen Few.
Mr. Capelli is survived by: three daughters, Mitzi Capelli, Vineland, Vicki
Daugherty, Cedarville and Lisa Domenico, Vineland; five grandchildren, Tonya
Domenico, Megan Taylor, Joseph Domenico, Larry Ridgway and Daniel Ridgway;
two sisters, Anne Capelli, Bridgeton and Charlotte Goldberg, Novarre, Fla.;
one brother, John Capelli, Bridgeton and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church,
367 Main St., Cedarville, on Monday morning, April 12, at 11:00 O’clock.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville. A viewing will be held at
the church Monday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. Funeral
