Adelaide Gilman, 77, of Cedarville, died
Monday evening, April 19, 2004, in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Camden. She
had been in failing health for the past year.
Mrs. Gilman was born in Bridgeton and was the wife of the late Edward W.
Gilman, who passed away in 1987. She had been a Cedarville resident for 54
years and prior to that had resided in Bridgeton. She was the daughter of
the late Edith Mullen and the grand daughter of the late Edward and Adelaide
Exel.
She had formerly assisted her late husband in the operation of Gilman’s Shoe
Store in Cedarville. They were in business for over 25 years.
She was a member of Dividing Creek Baptist Church and had formerly attended
the Fortescue Chapel and Cedarville Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Adelaide Coulter, Millville, Ruby C.
O’Brien, Cedarville and Joyce A. Wood, Cedarville; one son, Edward W. “Buzz”
Gilman, Jr., Cedarville; two brothers, Edward Exel, Bridgeton and Leon
Charles Mullen, Fairton; three sisters, Edith Laning, Fairton, Marlene Jones
Millville and Judy Bock, Vineland; ten grandchildren, sixteen great
grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by a
sister, Nancy Fogg.
Rev. Ronald Barber will conduct funeral services in the Padgett Funeral
Home, 160 Main St., Cedarville, on Friday morning, April 23, at 10:00
O’clock. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville. Friends will be
received Thursday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 O’clock at the funeral home.
