Catherine Anna Hitchner, aged 94, of
Hopewell Township, died peacefully, in her sleep, at her home on Wednesday,
Aug. 11, 2004.
Ms. Hitchner was born in Pennsville and was the daughter of the late Charles
B. Hitchner and Mary Randall Hitchner. She was the last remaining of her
many siblings.
Although Aunt Catherine never married, she will fondly be remembered for her
tender care and love of babies. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse by
profession and had worked on the maternity floor of Bridgeton Hospital for
30 years.
She was a devout Catholic and attended the Church of the Immaculate
Conception for most of her adult life.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers, Charles, James, David, Edward,
Ralph, Eugene, Lawrence and Vincent and three sisters, Mary Ruth, Marguerite
and Alice. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews and great-great nephews and numerous other family members and
friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass of Christian
Burial on Saturday morning, Aug. 14, at 10:00 O’clock in the Church of the
Immaculate Conception, 312 North Pearl St., Bridgeton. At her request, there
will be no public viewing. Cremation will take place following the services.
