Lessie Sheppard, aged 94, of Port Norris,
died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Renaissance Nursing Center, Bridgeton. She
had been in declining health for several years.
The wife of the late Fred Sheppard, she was born in Acomac, Va. and was the
daughter of the late George Holden. She had been a Port Norris resident for
3 years and prior to that had lived in Bridgeton.
Before her retirement she had been employed with Robbins Bros. Oyster Co. in
Port Norris.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church of Port Norris.
Survivors include: two sons, Milton R. Sheppard, Port Norris and Billie
Randolph Maddox, Gathersburg, Md.; eight grandchildren; twelve great
grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by ten brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 27, at 12:00 O’clock noon, in
John Wesley United Methodist Church, Baltimore Ave., Bridgeton. Burial will
be in Gouldtown Memorial Park, Fairfield Township. Friends will be received
Friday morning one hour prior to the services at the church. Funeral
services are under the direction of the Padgett Funeral Home, Upper
