Janie R. Lewis, 60, of Bridgeton, died
Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in South Jersey Regional Medical Center, Vineland,
where she had been a patient for 3 weeks. She had been in failing health for
the past 2 years.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Americus, Ga. and was the daughter of the late Eddie
and Gertrude Butts Brown. She had been a Bridgeton resident for 34 years,
coming from Georgia.
Janie was a member of Faith Outreach Deliverance Church of Bridgeton.
Survivors include: her husband, James J. Lewis; four daughters, Corinthians
Thomas, Angela Beharie, Kimberly Glenn and Juanita Lewis, all of Bridgeton;
one son, James J. Lewis, III, Bridgeton; three step-daughters, Lashawn
Lewis, Atlanta, Ga., Rachael Black, Americus, Ga. and Tonya Russell,
Bridgeton; one step-son, Merit Flagg, Delaware; three sisters, Mattie M.
Mable, Wilmington, De., Etta Mae Banks, Americus, Ga. and Ozzie B. Lewis,
Americus, Ga.; twenty seven Grandchildren, including Lakeysha and Earl
Barbary; one great grandson and 24 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by a daughter, Jocarolyn Lewis, a brother, Eddie Brown and two
sisters, Eddie Holmes and Mildred McCoy.
Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon, Dec. 13, at 1:00 O’clock,
in Union Baptist Temple, South Pine & Willow Sts., Bridgeton. Burial will be
in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Hopewell Township. Friends will be received
Monday between 11:00 and 1:00 O’clock, prior to the services at the church.
