Paul I. Jones, 77, of Fairfield Township,
died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, in South Jersey HealthCare-Bridgeton, where he
had been a patient for 2 days. He had been in failing health for the past
year.
Mr. Jones was born in Salem and was the son of the late Paul Pennington
Jones and Louise Miller Jones. The husband of the late Lillie Jones, he had
lived at his present address for 35 years and prior to that had resided in
Bridgeton.
Retired for the past 10 years, he had formerly been employed with Sheppard
Bus Services in Bridgeton and prior to that with the Shield Alloy Co. in
Vineland.
He loved boating and fishing and enjoyed playing the drums.
Survivors include: two daughters, Pauline Pierce, Newark, Del. and Marleen
Jones, Fairfield Township; two sons, Joseph A. Jones, Bear, Del. and Eric I.
Jones, Fairfield Township; eight grandchildren, Kyle Pierce, Glenn Pierce,
Cherie Pierce, Nelson Pierce, Jr., Marie McRae, Darrell Jones, Elizabeth
Custis and Deyanita Jones and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by two sons, Arthur Jones and John Paul Jones; a sister, Elizabeth
Cuff and a brother, Oliver Miller.
Speaker Garfield Pierce will conduct funeral services in the Padgett Funeral
Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Saturday
afternoon, Feb. 21, at 1:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Memorial
Park, Hopewell Township. Friends will be received Saturday afternoon one
hour prior to the services at the church.
