Francis W. “Jake” Orr, 80, of Millville,
died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 in South Jersey HealthCare-Newcomb, where he had
been a patient for 3 weeks. He had been in failing health for the past 14
years.
Mr. Orr was born in Greenwich Township and was the son of the late John and
Harriet Hendrickson Orr. The husband of the late Carol Garrison Orr, he had
been a Millville resident for the past 14 years and prior to that had lived
in Elmer and Greenwich.
Retired since 1987, he had been employed with the former H. M. Davis & Son
in Shiloh for 37 years. Prior to that he had worked at the Ferricute Machine
Co. in Bridgeton for several years.
He was a veteran of World War Two, serving with the U. S. Army in the
Pacific Theater.
Survivors include: two daughters, Frances J. Lynch, Sebring, Fla. and
Maryann G. Smith, Cary, N. C.; a granddaughter Donna Glaspey Crain, Sebring,
Fla. and two great grandchildren, Kiana Crain and Corey Crain and a brother,
John H Orr, Upper Deerfield Township. He was preceded in death by a sister,
Leona Laing.
Graveside funeral services will be held in the Greenwich Baptist Cemetery,
Greenwich, on Friday morning, Feb. 20, at 11:00 O’clock, with Rev. Robert
Oakley, pastor of Greenwich Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will
follow the services. There will be no public viewing. Funeral arrangements
are under the direction of the Padgett Funeral Home, Upper Deerfield
Township.
