Henry Hayes Setzer, Sr., 82, of Upper Pittsgrove Township, died at his home,
Tuesday evening, Feb. 17, 2004.
Mr. Setzer was born in Waynesville, N. C. and was the son of the late Frank
and Pearl Bradley Setzer. He had been a resident of Upper Pittsgrove
Township for most of his life after moving here from North Carolina at the
age of 18.
Retired for the past 21 years, he had been employed with the former
Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton. He had also worked as plant manager
for 20 years at the former New Jersey Fireworks Co. in Vineland. After his
retirement he worked part time at Williams Hardware in Pittsgrove for 15
years.
He was a veteran of World War Two, serving with the U. S. Army in the
European Theater.
Survivors include: his wife, Emma Nichols Setzer; two daughters, Pearl
Gregg, Elmer and June Richardson, Lenoir, N. C.; one son, Henry “Lucky”
Setzer, Jr., Upper Pittsgrove Township; one brother, Carl “June” Setzer,
Waynesville, N. C.; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by three brothers, Gilmer Setzer, Joe Setzer and Jack
Setzer and two grandchildren, Terry Joyce, Jr. and Michele Moody.
Rev. Ayn Masker and Rev. Naldo Eller, Jr. will conduct funeral services in
the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township,
on Saturday morning, Feb. 21, at 10:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Deerfield
Methodist Cemetery, Deerfield. Friends will be received Saturday morning one
hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Written condolences can be
