Mary Weldon Gaskill Dilks, 77, of Downe
Township, died Thursday morning, Jan. 22, 2004 at the home of her son Tom,
in Newport where she had been staying for a week and a half during her
illness. She had been in declining health for the past 2 years.
Mrs. Dilks was born in Newport, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary
Paynter Weldon. She had been a lifetime Downe Township resident.
Prior to her retirement she had been employed as a driver with Moores Bus
Service in Dividing Creek and had worked at the former Optoptics Company in
Fairton.
Survivors include two sons, William “Billy” Gaskill of Dividing Creek and
John “Tom” Gaskill of Newport and one grandson, John T. Gaskill, Jr. of
Seabrook. She was predeceased by a son, Howard B. Gaskill, Jr. and six
brothers, Kenneth, Paul, Ellsworth, Clarence, Tom and Frank Weldon and six
sisters, Estella Shull, Frances McGaha, Hilda Seip, Rose Slade, Mildred
Trout and Betty Moore.
Funeral services will be held at the Padgett Funeral Home, 160 Main St.,
Cedarville, on Monday, January 26th, at 2:30 p.m.
Burial will take place at Newport Baptist Cemetery.
Friends will be received Monday afternoon between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. prior
to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests
