Lawrence R. Paynter, 65, of
Fairfield Township, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2004, in South
Jersey Healthcare-Bridgeton. Although he had been in failing health for
the past 6 years, his death was unexpected.
Mr. Paynter was born in Millville, the son of the late Lawrence and
Roberta McClure Paynter. He was the husband of the late Bonnie L. Wands
Paynter. He had been a resident of Bridgeton before moving to Fairfield
Township 33 years ago.
He had been employed as a machinist with the former Bridgeton Dye &
Finishing Company and the former Martin Dye Company before going to work
for the security department of the Sands Casino in Atlantic City, where he
stayed until his retirement 6 years ago.
Lawrence was a member of the Italian-American Political Club of Bridgeton,
a former member of the Bridgeton Moose Lodge & V.F.W. and a veteran of the
U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include: two daughters, Diana L. Spatola and Valerie S. Dewey
both of Fairton; one brother, Earl T. Paynter, Maurice River Twp.; and
three grandchildren, Stephanie L. Dewey, Vincent J. Spatola and Miranda L.
Spatola.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, Jan. 19, at 1:00 O’clock
in the Padgett Funeral Home, 160 main Street, Cedarville. Burial will be
in the Old Stone Church Cemetery, Fairfield Township. Friends will be
received Monday afternoon one hour prior to the services at the funeral
home.
