Gerald Taylor, son of the late James
Ballard and Mary W. Taylor, departed this life on January 15, 2004, to begin
his journey to his eternal rest. He was 67 years of age. He was preceded in
death by his late wife, Eva Taylor and a granddaughter, Carrie Lorraine
Thomas.
Gerald was born and raised in Woodstown, N. J. He attended the Woodstown
Public School System and graduated from Woodstown High School in 1955.
During his childhood years he was a member of the Morning Star Baptist
Church in Woodstown, under the late Rev. Peter W. Taylor.
He was employed at Agway of Woodstown until 1974, at which time he left the
work force on disability.
He leaves to cherish memories, his special friend and companion of 26 years,
Lorraine Johnson of Bridgeton; four daughters, Sheila Dunn and her husband
Troy, Newark, Del., Robbin Thomas, Bridgeton, Pamela Taylor, Clayton and
Wanda Taylor, South Carolina; a step-daughter, Ranissa Johnson, Bridgeton;
two brothers, Clyde Taylor and his wife Ruby, Salem and Leroy Taylor and his
wife Patricia, West Deptford; one sister, Marsha Jones and her husband
James, Woodstown; three aunts; one uncle; eleven grandchildren and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rev. Matthew Brown will conduct funeral services in the Padgett Funeral
Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Wednesday morning,
Jan. 21, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Morning Star Baptist Cemetery,
Pilesgrove Township. Friends will be received Wednesday morning one hour
prior to the services at the funeral home.
