Donald “Dutsel” Kenelia, aged 64, of
Upper Deerfield Township, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at his home. He had
been in failing health for the past 4 years.
Mr. Kenelia was born in Penns Grove and was the son of the late Michael J.
and Anna Martell Kenelia. He had been a resident of Upper Deerfield for 31
years and prior to that had lived in Bridgeton.
Prior to his retirement 12 years ago, he had been employed with E. I. DuPont
Chambers Works in Deepwater for 31 years.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. A member of the DuPont Veterans Assoc.,
Fifth Ward Athletic Club and the Deerfield Game Getters Hunting Club. Donald
was an avid fisherman and hunter. In his youth he had played baseball in the
Bridgeton Babe Ruth League, where he had the highest batting average. His
team, Rutledge Oldsmobile is in the Bridgeton Hall of Fame. He had also
formerly been a coach in the Salem County Baseball League.
Survivors include: his wife, Patricia Willis Kenelia; four daughters, Donna
Garrison, Downingtown, Pa., Dawn Calabrese and her husband Damon, Upper
Deerfield Township, Deneen Newmaster and her husband Daniel, Hopewell
Township and DeAnn Benvenuto and her husband John, Clarksboro; three
brothers, Richard Kenelia, Upper Deerfield Township, Anthony Kenelia,
Fairton and Raymond Kenelia, Upper Deerfield Township and four
grandchildren, Craig Garrison, Brandi Garrison, Adrianna Orange and Nikolas
Newmaster. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael J. Kenelia, Jr.
and Joseph “Chubby” Kenelia.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, July 17, at 11:00 O’clock in
the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township,
with Rev. James Rush, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Laurel Lawn Cemetery, Upper Deerfield Township. Friend
will be received Saturday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock, prior to
the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests
