James E. Barrow, Sr., aged 74, of Port
Norris, died early Friday morning, March 19, 2004, at his home. He had been
in failing health for the past 2 years.
Mr. Barrow was born in Accomack County, Va. and was the son of the late
Eugene and Hester Drummond Barrow. He had been a resident of the Port Norris
area for most of his life.
Prior to his retirement he had been employed with Gorton Seafood Co. in
Millville for 25 years and before that with the Riggin & Robbins Oyster Co.
in Port Norris.
He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Port Norris and
had sung with the Brotherhood Group and the Methodist Men’s Group of the
church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean
Conflict.
Survivors include: his wife, Adella Teagle Barrow; five sons, Arnold Ross,
Millville, James E. Barrow, Jr., Millville, Victor Barrow, Port Norris,
Eugene Barrow, Millville and William Barrow, Port Norris; one daughter,
Jacqueline Barrow, Port Norris; three brothers, Lewis Askins, Vineland,
Albert Askins, Vineland and Joseph Askins, Pennsylvania and four
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, March 27, at 1:00 O’clock,
in the Shiloh Baptist Church, Memorial Ave., Port Norris. Burial will be in
Haleyville Cemetery, Commercial Township. Friends will be received Saturday
afternoon one hour prior to the services at the church. Funeral arrangements
