Kikuye “Kay” Inouye, age 91, of Upper
Deerfield Township died Tuesday morning, March 9, 2004 at Cumberland Manor
in Hopewell Township after a brief illness.
Born in Oroville, California the daughter of the late Ichisaburo and Taku
Hamachi Okami, she was the wife of the late Keigo Inouye. She had been an
Upper Deerfield Township Resident since 1945 and prior to that had lived in
Japan until she completed her high school education and moved back to the
United States living in California and Utah.
Before her retirement Mrs. Inouye had been employed with Seabrook Farms for
20 years. She had also worked for the Jackson Perkins Rose Company in
Newark, New York developing hybrid roses. She had served as a volunteer at
the Cumberland Manor Day Care Center and was an avid walker for 30 years.
Surviving are a daughter, June Hanzawa and her husband George of Upper
Deerfield Township; a son, Edwin Inouye and his wife Evelyn o Pennsgrove;
two sisters, Fujiye Misumi and Yachiyo Toy both of Japan and three
grandchildren, Kelly Hanzawa of Somerset, Leslie Hanzawa-Cabrera of Pompton
Lakes and Jeffrey Hager of Atlanta, Georgia. She was predeceased by a
daughter, Elsie Hager, a son James Inouye and a brother, Michio Okami.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family from the
Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township.
Burial will be private at Deerfield Presbyterian Cemetery.
