Gerald O. Rupert, 82, of Upper Deerfield
Township, died Monday, March 8, 2004, on South Jersey HealthCare-Bridgeton.
He had been in failing health for the past 2years.
Mr. Rupert was born in Juniata, Pa. and was the son of the late George C.
and Christine Showalter Rupert. The husband of the late Irene Franchio
Rupert, he had lived in Upper Deerfield Township for 34 years and prior to
that had resided in Cedarville and Altoona, Pa.
Retired since 1985, he had been employed with the former Owens-Illinois
Glass Co. in Bridgeton for 29 years. Before that he had worked for the
Pennsylvania Railroad for 10 years.
He was a veteran of World War Two, serving with the U. S. Army in the
European Theater. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of
Bridgeton, the Owens-Illinois Quarter Century Club and was a former member
of Mead-Woodward Post 1795, V. F. W. of Bridgeton.
Survivors include: four daughters, Geraldine A. Rupert, Upper Deerfield,
Marian J. Gilson and her husband Herbert, Upper Deerfield, Karen M. Sheppard
and her husband Neil, Stow Creek Township and Tina M. Young and her husband
William, Upper Deerfield; five grandchildren, Herbert Gilson, Jr., Neil
Sheppard, Jr., Shelby Mason, David Young and Christopher Young and four
great grandchildren, Gage Gilson, Govia Gilson, Allyson Mason and Julian
Mason.
His Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday morning, March 12, at 10:00
O’clock in Immaculate Conception Church, 312 North Pearl St., Bridgeton.
Burial will be on Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton. Friends will be received at
the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on
Thursday evening between 7:00 and 9:00 O’clock and Friday morning between
