F. Elizabeth Watchko Simpkins, age 89, of Bridgeton died Tuesday morning,
October 12th, 2004 in the South Jersey Regional Medical Center in Vineland
where she had been a patient for 2 days. She had been in declining health
for the past 3 years.
Born in Cranbury, the daughter of the
late Joseph and Christina Surran Watchko, she was the wife of the late
Everett N. Simpkins. She had resided at her present address for 62 years and
prior to that had lived in Canton and Marmora.
Before retiring she had been employed
with the former Vee’s Delicatessen in Bridgeton and prior to that had worked
for the former K & J Coat Company in Bridgeton.
She had been a member of the First
Methodist Church in Bridgeton for over 50 years, serving with the Women’s
Christian Society Group of the church. Elizabeth had been a Girl Scout
Leader in the Bridgeton area and was an avid traveler and enjoyed making
craft items.
Survivors include one daughter, Frances
M. Hamidy of Upper Deerfield; one son, Donald Simpkins and his wife Porta
Lee of Princeton, West Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Della Simpkins of West
Virginia; one sister, Dorothy Daly of Marmora; five grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John J. Simpkins, a
granddaughter, Julie Ann Hamidy, a brother, John Watchko and two sisters,
Anna Collins and Christine Madara.
Funeral services will be held on Friday
afternoon, October 15th at 2:00 p.m. in the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery,
Bridgeton. Friends will be received on Friday afternoon between 1:00 and
2:00 O’clock, prior to the services at the funeral home. Written condolences
