Flossie Goar Sutton, age 89, of Woodbine
died Friday afternoon, October 8, 2004 at Crest Haven Nursing Center in Cape
May Court House. She had been in declining health for the past two months.
Born in Walterboro, N.C. the daughter of
the late John and Daisy Pinkney Goar, she was the wife of the late Obie
Sutton. She had been a resident of Woodbine since she was 7 years old and
had been educated in the Woodbine school system.
Prior to her retirement she had been
employed at the Woodbine Developmental Center and then she had volunteered
as a foster grandparent at the Developmental Center until just a year ago.
She was an active member of the
Lighthouse Deliverance Church in Woodbine, serving as Sunday School
Superintendent, Church Mother and Church Secretary in addition to the many
other activities she was involved with.
Survivors include three granddaughters,
Wanda Johnson of Woodbine, Danita Milbourne of Millville and Tina Holland of
Virginia; five grandsons, Larry Elsey of North Carolina, Don Ray Elsey of
Rochester, NY, Prentice Elsey of Millville, Kurk Elsey of Mays Landing and
Kevin Elsey of Wildwood Crest; eight grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Edith M. Elsey, a
son, Edward Hooks, a grandson, Arnold Elsey and two brothers, William Holmes
and Benjamin Goar.
Funeral services will be held on Friday
morning, Oct. 15th at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, Adams Ave.,
Woodbine. Burial will be in Steelmantown Cemetery, Upper Township. Friends
will be received on Friday morning between the hours of 10:00 and 11:00
O’clock, prior to the services at the church. Funeral arrangements are under
