Whildon C. Pierce, Sr.
 

Whildon C. Pierce, Sr., 87, of Millville, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, in S. J. R. M. C., Vineland, where he had been a patient for 5 weeks. He had been in failing health for the past 5 months.

Mr. Pierce was born in Upper Deerfield Township and was the son of the late Elias A. and Camilla Pierce. He had lived in Millville for 65 years and prior to that had resided in the Carmel area.

Prior to his retirement 22 years ago, he had been employed with the former Jersey-Tyler Iron Co. in Bridgeton for several years. After his retirement he had worked as a custodian at the Fairfield Township School for 5 years.

Whildon was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Indians. He loved taking care of his many animals.


Survivors include: his ex-wife, Rosline E. Pierce, Millville; one son, Whildon C. Pierce, Jr., Fairfield Township; one daughter, Arlene Jeffery, Millville; four grandchildren, Gloria Rodgers and her husband David L., Annette M. Pierce, Benjamin H. Pierce, III and Daniel W. Pierce and his wife Beth, all of Millville; three great grandchildren, Amber Rodgers, Rebekah Pierce and Daniel W. Pierce, Jr. and a brother, Ellsworth Pierce of Hopewell Township. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Pierce, a brother, Elias Pierce, Jr. and three sisters, Camille Pierce, Reba Lloyd and Harriet Pierce.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, April 23, at 2:30 O’clock in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township. Burial will be in Fordville Memorial Park, Fairfield Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home Saturday afternoon between 1:30 and 2:30 O’clock.
