Gilbert A. Leach, 91, of Millville,
passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, in Cumberland Manor, Hopewell Township. He
had been in failing health for several years.
Mr. Leach was born in Sewell and was the son of the late Charles T. and Mary
Swain Leach. He had formerly resided in McGraw, N. Y. and Dividing Creek.
Prior to that he had been a Bridgeton area resident for 40 years and was
preceded in death by his wives, Laura Bacon Leach and Marion Williams Leach.
Prior to his retirement, in 1978, he had been employed as an operator with
the Seabrook Water Treatment Plant in Upper Deerfield for 20 years and after
they were acquired by the Cumberland County Utilities Authority, he worked
for them for 8 years. He had also been employed with the City of Bridgeton
for several years and the New York Ship Yard.
Gilbert was a former member of the Bridgeton Loyal Order of Moose, Bridgeton
Eagles Lodge and the Mead-Landis Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include: a daughter, Brenda Watson, Dividing Creek; three sons,
Gilbert Leach, Jr., Camden, Ronald Leach, Elmer and Gerald Leach, Bridgeton;
one sister, Esther Weist, Pitman; a step-son, Leon Savage, Texas; twelve
grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death
by a son, Charles Leach, a brother, Harold Leach and two sisters, Dorothy
Brining and Grace Simmons.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, Aug. 5, at 11:00 O’clock, in
the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Hurffville. A viewing will be held at the
funeral home on Friday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. Written
