Joseph M. Grega, Jr.,74, of Upper
Deerfield Township, died at his home on Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, 2005,
after a brief illness.
The husband of Catherine James Grega, he was born and raised in Farrell,
Pa. and was the son of the late Joseph M. and Margaret Liptack Grega. He
had been a resident of Upper Deerfield for the past 30 years and prior
to that had lived in Heightstown.
Retired for the past 9 years, he had been employed as a correctional
officer at Southern States Correctional Facility for 11 years. He was
also former manager and co-owner of the Bridge Towne Restaurant in
Bridgeton. He was also a former supervisor Buxton’s Restaurants, based
in North Jersey.
Joseph was a veteran of the U. N. Navy, serving during the Korean
Conflict. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and supported his children in
all their games and activities. He was a member of Immaculate Conception
Church in Bridgeton and was an avid bowler and cross word puzzle worker.
Besides his wife, survivors include: 3 daughters, Gail Mosier, St.
Louis, Mo., Cathy Grega, North Carolina and Alice Wolbert, Fairton;
three sons, William Yobe, Sharpsville, Pa., Wayne Grega, Virginia and
Joseph Grega, Bellmawr; one sister, Margaret Erceg, Hermitage, Pa.;
twelve grandchildren; a niece, Angie; two nephews, Eli and Timmy; a very
close friend, Leon “Boggie” Elbertson and his wife Sandy & family of
Millville and his faithful friend, his dog “Charlie”.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Liturgy at the
Church of the Immaculate Conception, 312 North Pearl St., Bridgeton, on
Wednesday morning, Dec. 21, at 10:00 O’clock. Burial will be private at
the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing. In lieu
of flowers the family requests donations to either HospiceCare of South
Jersey, 2848 South Delsea Drive, Vineland, N. J. 08360 or the Cumberland
County S. P. C. A., 1244 North Delsea Drive, Vineland, N. J. 08360.
