Edward S. “Bootie” Lane, 74, of
Vineland, departed this life in South Jersey Regional Medical Center on
Monday, Dec. 26, 2005. He had been in failing health for several years.
The husband of Mary Grant Lane, he was born in Marumpsco, Md. and was
the son of the late Edward and Margaret Hitchens Lane. He had been a
Vineland resident for 34 years and prior to that had lived in Newport.
Prior to his retirement, Bootie had been employed with Kimble Glass Co.
in Vineland and before that he had worked as a truck driver with Ben
Mazza Trucking Co. in Newport for several years. He was also a Special
Police Officer for the City of Vineland.
He was a member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in
Bridgeton.
Besides his wife, survivors include: two sons, Michael S. Lane, Vineland
and Mark K. Lane, Texas; two daughters, Angela L. Lane, Vineland and
Marlene L. Lane, North Carolina; two sisters, Ann Lane and Patricia
Lane, both of Norma; two brothers, Ronald Lane, Millville and Larry
Lane, Bridgeton; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by a son, Zachary Cephas.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 5, at 1:00
O’clock, in the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, 188 South East
Ave., Bridgeton. Burial will be in Haleyville Cemetery, Commercial
Township. A viewing will be held in the Church on Friday afternoon
between 12:00 and 1:00 O’clock. There will be no final viewing. Funeral
