Bernice "Sis" Leddon

Bernice “Sis” Ledden, age 64, of Upper Deerfield Township, died Friday afternoon, December 9, 2005 at her home. She had been in declining health for the past five years.

Born in Harrison Township, she was the daughter of the late George and Grace Huster Ledden who also both died this year. She had been an Upper Deerfield Township resident most of her life.

Prior to her retirement 6 years ago, she had been employed as an executive secretary with the Hercules Corporation in Wilmington, DE for 37 years.

She was a graduate of Goldie Beacom College in Wilmington, DE and was a member of the Hercules Women’s Club. Bernice was a member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church where she had formerly served as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed traveling and the beach, especially Cape May.

She is survived by four brothers, George C. Ledden and his wife Emily of Millville, Charles Ledden and his wife Mary Bruce of Murfreesboro, NC, Edwin Ledden and his wife Holly of Paris, TN and Harry Ledden and his wife Maryann of Greenwich; two sisters, Carol Solorzano and her husband Hubert and June Schmidt and her husband Rudi all of Upper Deerfield Township; 14 nieces and nephews, Mae, Tammy, Cathy, Kevin, Michelle, Julie, Bradley, Matthew, Joy, Michael, Mark, Harry, Jr., Adam and Andrew and 4 great nieces and nephews, Amanda, Patrick, Kameron and Margaret and her beach friends in Cape May and work associates at Hercules Corporation. She was predeceased by a sister, Joan Ledden.

Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ayn Masker, pastor of the Deerfield United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be made at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Elmer, NJ.

Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
