Howard Hill, age 79, of Upper Deerfield
Township, died Friday morning, Feb. 18, 2005 at home. He had been in failing
health for the past 7 months.
The husband of Frances Hilton Hill, he
was born in Fairfield, N.C., the son of the late Leonard and Odessa Hill, he
was a lifetime Upper Deerfield Township resident.
Prior to his retirement he had been
employed with the Green Giant Canning Company in Vineland, and before that
he had worked for Dominick Pizzo Farms in Rosenhayn, Progresso Foods,
Vineland and Seabrook Farms in Seabrook along with several other area farms.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Deerfield and he enjoyed
being with people.
Besides his wife, survivors include three
daughters, Julia Thomas and her husband Clement of Florida, Bernetta
Saunders of Clementon and Cordelia Hill of Millville; two sons, Ret. Mstr.
Sergeant, US Army-Eugene Hilton, Sr. and his wife Evelyn of Virginia and
Howard Hill, Jr. and his wife Mamie of Bridgeton; two brothers, Leonard Hill
and his wife Virginia of Delaware and Linsey Hill of N.C.; three sisters,
Rena Batcher of Delaware, Beatrice Hill of N.C. and Etta Mae Hill of
Atlanta, GA.; one sister-in-law, Rosa Mosley of Millville; thirteen
grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Charles Hill and three sisters, Mary
King, Rosie Butts and Ola Brown.
Funeral services will be held at the
First Baptist Church, 194 Northville Rd., Upper Deerfield Township, on
Wednesday morning, Feb. 23, 2005 at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in
Fordville Memorial Park, Fairfield Township. Friends will be received on
Wednesday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock, prior to the services at
the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT
FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
