Gladys Whittington, 79, of Port Norris,
died Sunday, July 10, 2005, in S. J. R. M. C., Vineland. She had been in
failing health for the past 6 months.
Gladys was born in Kingston, Md. and was the daughter of Ross Hayes of Port
Norris and the late Christine Whittington. She had been a Port Norris
resident for most of her life.
Prior to her retirement she had been employed with the Vineland
Developmental Center at Vineland for 39 years.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Port Norris.
Besides her father, survivors include: one daughter, Minnie F. Hayman,
Millville; one adopted daughter, Valery Green, Port Norris; three
grandchildren, Holly Hayman, Kimberly Hayman and Wendy Hayman, all of
Millville; four great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was
preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Hayes.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, July 16, at 1:00 O’clock,
in John Wesley United Methodist Church, Ogden Avenue, Port Norris. Burial
will be in Haleyville Cemetery, Commercial Township. A viewing will be held
at the church on Saturday between 12:00 and 1:00 O’clock. Funeral
