Eva Jean Chaplin, 69, of Fairfield
Township, died at her home Thursday afternoon, June 2, 2005. She had been in
failing health for the past few years.
The wife of the late Stanley R. Chaplin, she was born in Schellsburg, Pa.
and was the daughter of the late Clarence H. and Leora Glessner Harmon. She
had lived at her present address since June of 1962 and prior to that had
been a resident of Somerset, Pa.
Following the death of her husband Stanley in 1997, she had worked as a
companion and health care provider. She was formerly a waitress with A. K.
Mellon at Rolling Rock Country Club in Ligoner, Pa. and the former Hickory
Steak House in Upper Deerfield Township. She had also catered and served
family dinners.
Jean was an active member of Fairton United Methodist Church and had served
as chairperson of the Administrative Council, Choir, Board of Trustees and
the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee. She had also been active with the Boy
Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Survivors include: two sons, Lynn D. Chaplin, Sr. and Raymond “Squeaky”
Chaplin, Sr., both of Cedarville; one sister, Ruth Bruck, Berlin, Pa.; four
grandchildren, Raymond Chaplin, Jr., Kyle Chaplin, Lynn D. Chaplin, Jr. and
Kristen Chaplin. She was preceded in death by a sister, Fanny Blizzard and a
brother, Edgar Harmon.
Rev. Charles Mitchell and Rev. Robert Steelman will conduct funeral services
in the Fairton United Methodist Church on Wednesday morning, June 8th at
11:00 a.m. Burial will be made at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedarville. Friends
may call on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME,
160 Main Street, Cedarville. In lieu of flowers the family asks that
contributions in Mrs. Chaplin’s memory be made to either Trinity Hospice,
1138 East Chestnut Ave., Vineland, NJ 08360 or to the Fairton United
