Rosa M. Powell
 

Rosa M. Powell, 59, of Bridgeton, died suddenly Saturday evening, March 5, 2005, in the emergency room of the Memorial Hospital of Salem. She was stricken with a heart attack while on the way back from church services in Delaware.

The wife of Thomas E. Powell, she was born in Americus, Ga. and was the daughter of Lucille King Barner of Bridgeton and the late John Idelett. She had been a Bridgeton resident for 39 years and prior to that had lived in Cedarville.

Prior to her retirement she had been employed with the former Val Mode and M. C. Schrank Companies in Bridgeton for 28 years.

Rosa was a member of Sha’Bach Powerhouse of Deliverance Church in Millville.

Besides her husband and mother, survivors include: three daughters, Emma Fountain, New Castle, Del., Sherry Chatum, Cedarville and Maxine Powell-Graham, New Castle, Del.; one son, Thomas Powell, Jr., Bridgeton; two brothers, Charles Barner, Bridgeton and Bradford Barner, Millville; one sister, Marie Thomas, Rochester, N. Y.; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eddie Mae Downing and a grandson, Willie Peterson, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, March 12, at 1:00 O’clock, in John Wesley United Methodist Church, Baltimore Ave., Bridgeton. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township. Friends will be received at the church Saturday between 11;00 A. M. and 1:00 P. M.
