Alberta A. Wood, 88, of Fairfield
Township, went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her loving family, on
Sunday, March 26, 2005. She had been a resident at Cumberland Manor and
passed away after a brief illness.
The wife of the late Wilbur E. Wood, who passed away in July of 1993, she
had lived in Fairfield Township for 31 years and prior to that was a
lifetime resident of the Bridgeton area.
Before her retirement 9 years ago, she had been employed with Menz-O-Matic
Laundry Mat in Bridgeton since its opening.
Survivors include: two sons, Wilbur E. Wood, Jr. and his wife Margaret,
Fairfield Township and Robert T. Wood, Sr. and his wife Joan, Vineland; one
daughter, Bonnie M. Symmonds and her husband Joe, New Brighton, Pa.; one
brother, Thomas E. Young and his wife Josie, Hendersonville, N. C. and
Marlene Urban of Bridgeton, whom she considered to be a daughter. A loving
former daughter-in-law, Alverna Wood of Fairton and her room mate at
Cumberland Manor, Frances Mayhew, who also worked with her at the
Menz-O-Matic Laundry; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She
will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family wishes to give
their appreciation and thanks to the loving staff at Cumberland Manor.
Rev. Kevin Davis will conduct funeral services in the Padgett Funeral Home,
1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Wednesday, March 30, at
12:00 O’clock noon. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell
Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday evening
between 7:00 and 9:00 O’clock and Wednesday morning between 11:00 and 12:00
O’clock.
