Garvin C. Borchers, Sr.
 

Garvin C. Borchers, Sr., 48, of Fortescue, died Wednesday May 11, 2005, in Cooper Medical Center, Camden. He had been in failing health for 6 months and a hospital patient for the past 16 days.

He was born in Bridgeton and was the son of the late Marvin Hanby and Rhoda Welden Hanby. He had lived in Fortescue for 5 years and prior to that had been a resident of Millville and Ventnor.

He had been employed as a master cashier for Ceasars Casino Hotel in Atlantic City for 15 years. Prior to that he had worked in Security at the Salem Nuclear Plant.

Garvin was a member of the Fairton Christian Center.

Survivors include: a daughter, Crystal Borchers, Fortescue; his fiancé, Loretta Soto, Fairton; five sisters, Anna Duffield, Cedarville, Pearl Rieger, Fairton, Rhoda Connor, Vineland, Ida Blizzard, Newport and Barbara Legg, Leesburg; three brothers, John Borchers, Jr., Ohio, Wayne Hanby, Fairton and Marvin Hanby, Sr., Fairfield Township and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Garvin C. Borchers, Jr. and a brother, Edwin Borchers, Sr.

Rev. Woodson Moore will conduct funeral services in the Fairton Christian Center, Fairton-Millville Rd., Fairton, on Tuesday morning, May 17, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Fairton Christian Center, Fairton-Millville Rd., Bridgeton, N.
