John B. Williams, Sr., 72, of Del Rio,
Tenn., formerly of Bridgeton, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, in the Johnson
City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tenn. He had been in failing health for
the past few months.
The husband of the late Dolores Nichols Williams, who passed away in 2001,
he was born in Del Rio Tenn., and was the son of the late Robert and Edna
Mae Gregg Williams. He had lived in Del Rio for the past 9 years and prior
to that had been a Bridgeton resident for many years.
Prior to his retirement he had owned and operated Williams Trucking in
Bridgeton for several years. He and his late wife and also owned and
operated Williams Sub Shop on North Laurel St. in Bridgeton. John had also
operated service stations in this area and had formerly been employed with
Quaker City Tree Service.
He was a member of Centerton Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, John B. Williams, Jr., Bridgeton and Roger O.
Williams, Sr., Hopewell Township; four daughters, Violet A. Peterson, Bybee,
Tenn., Patricia A. Hayes, Newport, Tenn., Dolores D. Lawrence, Hopewell
Township and Judith A. Keener, Stow Creek Township; four brothers, Jay
Williams, Del Rio, Tenn., Bill Williams, Stow Creek Township, Jim Williams,
Stow Creek Township and Herbert Williams, Bridgeton; four sisters, Dean
Paulaitis, Pittsgrove Township, Ruth Moore, Elmer, Sue Jenkins, Bridgeton
and Peggy Fuerneisen, Quinton; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Williams and two
brothers, Oliver Williams and Charles Williams.
Rev. Paul D. Sprouse will conduct funeral services in the PADGETT FUNERAL
HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Saturday morning,
May 21, at 10:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Centerton Free Will Baptist
Cemetery, Pittsgrove Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home
Saturday morning between 9:00 and 10:00 O’clock. Written condolences may be
