Barbara E. “Beacon of Light” Jordan,
62, of Quinton Township, died in Cooper Medical Center, Camden, on
Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, after an extended illness.
The wife of Claude Jay Jordan, she was born in Salem and was the
daughter of the late Layton B. and Laura Harmon Jones. She had been a
lifetime resident of Quinton Township.
Barbara was a homemaker and was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape
Indians. She was a founder of the Beacon of Light Ministries which is
now a national organization.
She was an active member of the Bridgeton Assembly of God Church and the
Prison Ministries and also the Bridgeton Main Street Association.
Besides her husband, survivors include: five daughters, Barbara Forman
and her husband Willie, Bridgeton, Tracy Wells, Vineland, LaShana Wells,
Voorhees, Tina Tucker and Rosemary Green, both of North Carolina; one
son, Claude Jay Jordan of Quinton Township; one brother, Layton B.
Jones, Jr., Millville; two sisters, Lauretta Pierce and her husband
Ernest and Miranda Hopson and her husband David, both of Bridgeton;
thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 12:00 O’clock noon,
in the Bridgeton Assembly of God Church, Indian Avenue, Bridgeton.
Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township. A viewing
will be held in the Church on Tuesday morning between 9:00 and 12:00
O’clock. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT
