William C. Richards, 81, of
Pittsgrove Township, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, in South Jersey
Hospital – Elmer, where he had been a patient for 12 days.
The husband of the late Edna “Louise” Simpson Richards, he was born in
Upper Deerfield Township and was the son of the late Joseph and Clara
McPherson Richards.
He had lived at his present address for 32 years and prior to that had
been a resident of Centerton.
Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a driver with LoBiondo
Transportation Co. in Rosenhayn for 32 years.
He was a veteran of World War Two, serving in the U. S. Army in the
European Theater. Bill was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local # 676,
V. F. W. Lodge # 1259 of Elmer and the Centerton Volunteer Fire Co.
Survivors include: three daughters, Linda Coggins, Pittsgrove, Betty
Bender, Hopewell Township and Barbara Hayes, Pittsgrove; a sister,
Allivina Hedengren, Seville, Fla.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty six
great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in
death by a son, William C. Richards, Jr. in 1980; one brother, Joseph
Richards and two sisters, Ruth Schenck and Edna Hymer.
A viewing will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway
77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Saturday morning, Dec. 3, between 10:00
and 11:30 O’clock. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the
family, in Friendship-Finley Cemetery, Upper Deerfield Township. In lieu
of flowers the family suggests contributions, in Mr. Richard’s memory,
to the American Diabetes Assoc., 1060 North Kings Highway, Cherry Hill,
