Rebecca Dix Evans, 72, of Fairfield
Township, died Sunday evening, Oct. 16, 2005, in Lincoln Specialty Care
Center-Vineland. She had been in failing health for the past year. Mrs.
Evans had been a resident in the Vineland facility for 2 years and prior
to that had resided in Cumberland Manor for 2 years.
Born in Cedarville, she was the daughter of the late Bud and Phoebe
Elkins Turner. The wife of Jerry Evans, Rebecca had formerly been a
resident of Fairfield Township for 40 years and was preceded in death by
her first husband, John S. Dix, Sr.
She was a homemaker. She loved to cook and being with her family. She
was a member of Cedarville Baptist Church.
Besides her husband, survivors include: two sons, John S. Dix, Jr.,
Hopewell Township and Fred A. Dix, Atco; one daughter, Marie Medina,
Fairfield Township; two brothers, Harold Turner, Florida and E. Paul
Turner, Michigan; one sister, Elizabeth Gallaher, Gibbstown; eight
grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Besides her first
husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda D. Cabegin; a
brother, William Turner and a grandson, Tony M. Dix.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main St.,
Cedarville, on Thursday morning, Oct. 20, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial, in
Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville, will be private at the convenience of
the family. A viewing will be held Thursday morning between 10:00 and
11:00 O’clock, prior to the services at the funeral home. Written
