Loving husband, father and grandfather,
the Rev. John W. Gaunt, age 83, of Upper Deerfield Township died Monday
morning, October 3, 2005 at his home. He had been in declining health for
the past five months.
Born in Monroeville, the son of the late
Elmer and Henrietta Campbell Gaunt, he was the husband of the late Anna
Driver Gaunt who died in February of 1999. He had resided in Upper Deerfield
Township for 58 years and had lived in Monroeville prior to that.
Until his retirement in 1984, Rev. Gaunt
had been employed with the Atlantic City Electric Company for 36 years. He
became an ordained minister with the United Methodist Church in 1964 where
he served in the ministry for 15 years at churches in Malaga, Haleyville,
Mauricetown and Centre Grove.
He was a veteran of World War Two and a
prisoner of war in Germany, having served with the United States Army
infantry in the European Theater.
Survivors include a daughter, Melody
Daniel of Upper Deerfield Township; a son, John W. Gaunt, Jr. and his wife
Judy of Upper Deerfield Township; one brother, William Gaunt of Elmer; one
sister, Alice Boggs of Salem and two grandchildren, Amanda and Brent Gaunt
of Upper Deerfield Township. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roy and
Joseph Gaunt.
Funeral services will be held on
Thursday, October 6th at 11 a.m. at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township with the Rev. Dwight Mikesell, pastor
of First Wesleyan Church in Upper Deerfield Township officiating.
Burial will be made at Lawnside Cemetery
in Woodstown.

10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the services.
