Cleveland T. Armstead, age 77, of
Atlantic City died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial
Hospital in Cape May Court House where he had been a patient for three weeks
following a brief illness.
Born in Port Norris he was the son of the
late Stanford Gibbs and Myrtle Armstead. He had been an Atlantic City
resident for 15 years and prior to that had resided in Wildwood and Port
Norris.
Before his retirement Mr. Armstead had
been a truck driver with Spinelli Trucking in Millville and had also
previously worked with the Port Norris Express Company.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict
having served with the United States Army.
Surviving are two sons, Cleveland T.
Armstead, Jr. of Vineland and Theodore Armstead of Millville; two daughters,
Geraldine Armstead of Wildwood and Inetta M. Armstead of Vineland; three
sisters, Eartha Lee Cullen of Crisfield, MD and Margaret and Myra Wise both
of Millville; one brother, Stanford L. Wise of Chrisfield, MD; his longtime
companion, Venetta Lewis of Whitesboro, 14 grandchildren, 23 great
grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday
at 11 a.m. at the Heavens Way Baptist Church, 830 Main Road, Vineland.
Burial will be made at Haleyville
Methodist Cemetery, Commercial Township.
Friends may call on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the
church.
