Louis G. Moreno, Jr.
 

Louis G. Moreno, Jr., 76, of Hopewell Township, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 28, 2005, in S. J. R. M. C., Vineland, where he had been a patient for 7 weeks. He had been in failing health for the past 5 months.

The husband of the late Elena “Helen” Sauro Moreno, he was born in Brooklyn, N. Y. and was the son of the late Louis G. and Elizabeth Bledsoe Moreno. He had been a Hopewell Township resident for the past 21 years and prior to that had lived in Vineland.

Lou currently served as director of the Cumberland County Department of Weights & Measures/Consumer Affairs, where he had worked for the past 21 years. Prior to that he had been employed as a manager with Acme Markets for 35 years. He was a retired Major with the Army National Guard where he had served for 45 years.

He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church in Bridgeton and the Men of Malvern organization. Lou had been an active and long time member of the Bridgeton Lions Club and was a former president of the club.

Survivors include: one son, Gregory L. Moreno, Wilmington, Del.; four grandchildren, Melissa Exton and her husband Brian, Vineland; Michelle Moreno, Bridgeton, Bryan Moreno, Bridgeton and Brianna Moreno, Upper Deerfield Township; four great grandchildren, Elena, Abigail, Gianna and Julia; two cousins, Joseph Moreno and John Moreno, both of Spain; two great cousins, Laura Moreno and Michael Moreno, both of Spain and a close friend, Alberta Quairoli, Vineland. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher J. Moreno in 2003.

His Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church, 46 Central Ave., Bridgeton, on Monday morning, Oct. 3, at 11:00 O’clock. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum, Vineland. A viewing will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Monday morning between 8:30 and 10:00 O’clock.
