Matthew S. Smith, age 72, of
Cedarville died Sunday morning at his home. He had been in declining
health for the past three months.
Born in Bridgeton, the son of the
late James and Letha Butler Smith, he had been a Cedarville resident for
35 years and prior to that had lived in both Port Norris and Dividing
Creek.
Before retiring Mr. Smith had been
employed in the road construction business for many years with different
contactors in the area. He had also worked on commercial fishing boats
out of Bivalve.
Surviving are two sisters, Rose Hardy
and Georgia Smith both of Philadelphia; three brothers, Horace Smith of
Cash, Oklahoma and James and Lonnie Smith both of Philadelphia along
with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn
Smith and Mary Wynn and five brothers, George, Richard, Lawrence,
Clifton and Jesse Smith.
Funeral services will be held at the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township
on Monday, August 14th at 11 a.m.
Burial will take place at Cedar Hill
Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.
Friends may call on Monday from 10 to
11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
