Sarah L. Waters, 78, of Fairfield
Township, died in S. J. Regional Medical Center on Wednesday evening,
Aug. 16, 2006. She had been in failing health for the past year.
The wife of the late Andrew A. Waters, she was born in Bridgeton and was
the daughter of the late Herman Cooper and Elizabeth Lloyd. She had been
a lifetime resident of Bridgeton.
Prior to her retirement, she had formerly been employed with Wheaton
Glass Co. in Millville and the former P. J. Ritter Co. and Hunt Foods
Co. of Bridgeton.
Sarah was a member of the Evangelistic Gospel World Mission Church in
Bridgeton, where she had served as an Usher and was a member of the
Hospitality Board. She loved cooking and loved her church.
Survivors include: six daughters, Janette Palmer, Upper Deerfield
Township, Linda C. Bryant, San Antonio, Tex., Sandra James, Bridgeton,
Doretha Rice, Vineland, Eve E. Williams, San Antonio, Tex. and Sissy S.
Waters, Millville; three sons, Andrew A. Waters, Millville, Adam L.
Waters, Paulsboro and Jerry “Dino” Waters, Bridgeton; a step-daughter,
Starlene Sorter, Millville; a step-son, Lloyd Johnson, Richland; five
brothers, Linwood Loatman, Bridgeton, Douglas Loatman, Canada, Morris
Loatman, Bridgeton, Thomas Loatman, Bridgeton and Edward Loatman,
Camden; three sisters, Harriet Darrisaw, Bridgeton, Adaline Dixion,
Millville and Anna Steward, Bridgeton; twenty five grandchildren and
twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first
husband, Lloyd Wilmor; a daughter, Ella Waters, a son, Lloyd H. Wilmore;
a step-daughter, Ida Glee; one sister, Lillian Mosley and three
brothers, William Loatman, Sr., Harold Loatman and Arthur Loatman.
Funeral services will be held in Union Baptist Temple, South Pine &
Willow Sts., Bridgeton, on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 22, at 2:00 O’clock.
Burial will be in Fordville Memorial Park, Fairfield Township. A viewing
will be held at the church on Tuesday afternoon between 1:00 and 2:00
O’clock. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT
