Donald “Bear” Hitchner, Jr., age 57
of Pittsgrove died Friday, December 1, 2006 at the Cooper Medical Center
in Camden. He had been in declining health for the past five years.
Born in Bridgeton, the son of Dorothy
Budd Hitchner of Alloway Township and the late Donald L. Hitchner, he
was the husband of Judith Zane Hitchner. He had lived in Pittsgrove for
the past two years and prior to that was a lifetime Alloway Township
resident.
Before his retirement for health
reasons he had been employed as a truck driver with S & J Transportation
in Woodstown for 24 years. Donald had received recognition as a “Safe
Driver” for logging over two million miles without incident.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and
especially liked following Bill Elliott’s races. He also was an
enthusiastic “John Deere” fan and collector.
In addition to his wife and mother,
survivors include one daughter, Tammy L. Hitchner of Pittsgrove; one
sister, Kay Whyte of Alloway Township; four brothers, Kenneth B.
Hitchner, Scott E. Hitchner and Barry L. Hitchner all of Alloway
Township and Robert A. Hitchner of Hightstown and several nieces,
nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township
on Wednesday, December 6th at 11 a.m.
Cremation and inurnment will take
place at Laurel Lawn Crematory in Upper Deerfield Township.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 10
to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
