George L. Horner, Jr., 81, of
Hopewell Township, died at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, after a
brief illness.
The husband of Dolores Generie Horner, he was born in Bridgeton and was
the son of the late George L. and Bertha Leaming Horner. He had been a
lifetime resident of Hopewell Township.
Prior to his retirement 15 years ago, he had been a supervisor with the
Cumberland County Mosquito Commission for 28 years. Before that he had
owned and operated the family dairy farm “Meadow Edge Farm” with his
parents, in Hopewell Township.
George was a member of West Park United Methodist Church in Hopewell
Township. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing,
nature and animals.
Besides his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Linda D. Tharp,
Millville; three sons, Paul L. Horner, Port St. Lucie, Fl., Mark D.
Horner, Salem and Steven B. Horner, Pitman; one brother, Franklin L.
Horner, Ocala, Fl.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held in West Park United Methodist Church, 625
Shiloh Pike, Hopewell Township, on Saturday morning, Dec. 9, at 10:00
O’clock. Burial will be in Greenwich Presbyterian Cemetery, Greenwich
Township. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday morning
between 9:00 and 10:00 O’clock. Funeral arrangements are under the
