Dolores Gates, 74, of Fairfield
Township, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, in South Jersey Regional
Medical Center. She had been in failing health for the past 2 years.
The wife of the late Earl H. Gates, she was born in North Wildwood and
was the daughter of the late Howard B. and Jennie Terrizzi Miller. She
had been a Fairfield Township resident for 37 years and prior to that
had lived in Millville and Upper Deerfield Township.
Prior to her retirement 12 years ago, she had been employed as Tax
Collector for Fairfield Township for 20 years. Before to that she had
been manager at the former Levoy Theater in Millville and had worked at
Wheaton Glass Co. in Millville and was a hostess at the Millville Diner.
She and her late husband had also operated Gates Sunoco Station in
Millville for 8 years.
She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed traveling in her R. V. Delores
was known as “Deedle” on C.B. Radio in this area.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kitty Creighton, Fairfield Township
and Kathy Clark, Millville; one son, Earl H. Gates, Jr., Stow Creek
Township; two sisters, Margie M. Patterson and C. Joy Miller, both of
Upper Deerfield Township; one brother, Howard T. Miller, Alloway
Township; five grandchildren, Tracy Schweitzer, Dolores Porch, Leslie
Gates, Earl H. Gates, III and Tabathalynn Gates and twelve great
grandchildren.
Rev. Kevin Davis will conduct funeral services in the PADGETT FUNERAL
HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Saturday
morning, Jan. 28, at 10:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial
Park, Millville. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Saturday
morning between 9:00 and 10:00 O’clock. In lieu of flowers the family
requests donations to the American Cancer Society, Orchard Road & Landis
