Marion C. Schaffer, age 73, of
Bridgeton died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the South Jersey Regional
Medical Center in Vineland.
Born in Bridgeton, the adopted
daughter of the late John and Lida Sutton Westcott and birth daughter of
Emma Vanpelt Parker, she was the wife of the late James F. Schaffer who
died in 1990. She was a lifetime Bridgeton resident.
Before her retirement she had been
involved with the operation of the family business, Schaffer Fire &
Safety Equipment for many years.
Marion was an active member of her
community and was a member of the Bridgeton Fire Department Ladies
Auxiliary, Bridgeton Rescue Squad and the local Crime Watchers
Organization. She had previously worked with the New Jersey State
Democratic Committee, the Bridgeton Zoning Board and was an American Red
Cross and American Cancer Society Volunteer.
She loved and enjoyed all 47 of her
children and grandchildren and was a crafter from painting to
crocheting. She loved a good game of bowling, the sound of a sweet song
on her piano, traveling and spending time in Manhattan at a show, or
standing beside Niagra Falls holding the hand of the man of her dreams.
Survivors include six sons, Eric Cain
of Orlando, FL, Philip Cain of Egg Harbor Twp., Brian Cain of Millville,
Richard Cain of Greenwich, NY, Joseph Cain of Bridgeton and John
Schaffer of Hopewell; six daughters, Patricia Messeck and Sara Cain of
Bridgeton, Leslie Smith of Mays Landing, Lila Bocelli of Lake
Ronkonkoma, NY, Sylvia Cain of Bridgeton and Lily Cain of Navarre, OH; a
brother, Carl Westcott and his wife Marian of Pleasantville; an aunt and
uncle, Ada and Paul Anderson, 35 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and
William Westcott and one grandchild, Katelyn Schaffer.
Funeral services will be held on
Monday at 12 noon at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77,
Upper Deerfield Township.
Burial will take place at Laurel Lawn
Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Township.
Friends may call on Monday morning
from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
