Alvina H. Engels, 83, of Upper
Deerfield Township, died in South Jersey Extended Care, Bridgeton, on
Friday, July 28, 2006. She had been in failing health for several years.
The wife of the late Edward M. Engels, she was born in Camden and was
the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine Brockmeyer. She had been a
resident of Upper Deerfield Township since 2002 and had formerly resided
in Vineland, Florida and New York State.
Prior to her retirement she had been employed with Union Carbide Co. in
Tuxedo Park, NY for 10 years.
Alvina was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in New York State.
Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Bacon, Upper Deerfield Township;
one son, Edward H. Tyers, Jr., Upper Deerfield Township; four sisters,
Kay Simpson, Turnersville, Edna Stanley, Delaware and Charlotte Malin
and Trine Dougherty, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; four grandchildren and
two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers,
Edwin, Alfred and Arthur Brockmeyer and a sister Madaglin Brooks.
Her nephew, Rev. Guy Simpson, will conduct funeral services in the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township,
on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 2nd, at 2:00 p.m. Following the services
cremation will take place at Laurel Lawn Crematory, Upper Deerfield
Township. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday
afternoon between 1 and 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests
donations to the American Diabetes Association, Southern N. J. Office,
1060 N. Kings Highway, Cherry Hill, N. J. 08034. Written condolences may
