Edwin F. Stewart, Sr., age 69, of
Bridgeton went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at
the South Jersey Regional Medical Center in Vineland. He had been in
declining health for the past ten years.
Born in Cedarville, the son of the
late Corinthian and Mildred Jolley Stewart he was the husband of Nardean
Hutt Stewart. He had been a Bridgeton resident for 50 years and prior to
that had lived in Fairfield Township.
Before his retirement, Mr. Stewart
had been employed with Springer & Thomas Meats in Bridgeton and had also
worked at Green Giant Foods Company in Vineland for over 30 years before
its closing.
He was a member of the John Wesley
United Methodist Church in Bridgeton and had attended the Cedarville
Public School System.
In addition to his wife of 50 years,
Nardean, he is survived by three sons, Edwin F. Stewart and his wife
Cecilia of Upper Deerfield Township and twin sons, Darryl A. Stewart and
Dwayne A. Stewart both of Bridgeton; two daughters, Patricia Melton and
her husband Harley of Vineland and Cheryl Lynn Sydnor and her husband
Frederick of Bridgeton; one brother, Isaiah Shockley of Mays Landing;
four sisters, Marilyn, Margie and Margaret Shockley all of Pleasantville
and Marguerite Howard and her husband Wayne of Monroeville; six
grandchildren, Mahlon R. Stewart and his wife Brandi, Desiree Melton,
Jon Stewart, Frederick Sydnor, Jr., Antonio Sydnor, Cherrelle Sydnor and
several great-grandchildren; two sister in laws, Lorriane Johnson of
Bridgeton and Virginia Hughes and her husband Tim of Monroeville and
many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Mildred
Allan.
Private graveside funeral services
will be held at the convenience of the family at Morning Star Baptist
Cemetery in Woodstown with the Rev. Ernest Moore, pastor of the
Maranatha Baptist Church in Millville officiating. The interment will
follow the services.
