Florence Griffith, age 96, of
Fairfield Township died Saturday afternoon, June 3, 2006 at the home of
her niece, Florence “Flossie” Sooy with whom she had been staying due to
declining health.
Born in Fairfield Township and a
lifetime resident of the community she was the daughter of the late
Harry and Ruby Johnson Fisher. She was the wife of the late Aaron W.
Griffith.
Prior to her retirement she had been an elementary school teacher at the
Fairton School for 40 years.
Mrs. Griffith was the oldest living
member of the Fairton United Methodist Church and was a member of the
New Jersey Education Association. She deeply loved her Fairfield
Township farm, the vegetables she raised there and Griffith’s Roadside
Market where she sold the products of the farm.
She is survived by many nieces,
nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. She was predeceased by
two sisters, Gertrude Manetas and Sara Watson and two brothers, Theodore
Fisher and George Fisher.
Funeral services will be held at the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville on Thursday, June 8th
at 10 a.m.
Burial will be made at Cedar Hill
Cemetery in Cedarville.
Friends may call on Wednesday evening
from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
