James F. Lewis, Sr., 67, of Upper
Deerfield Township, died in S. J. Regional Medical Center on Sunday
morning, June 25, 2006. He had been in failing health for the past 4
months.
The husband of Marguerite “Maggie” Deguenther Lewis, he was born in
Bridgeton and was the son of the late Clarence P. and Margaret Rogers
Lewis. He had been a lifetime resident of Upper Deerfield Township.
James was a mold maker by trade and prior to his retirement in 1998, he
had been employed with Wheaton Glass Co. in Millville for 41 years.
He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Bridgeton
and was a member of the Church choir. He was also a veteran of the U. S.
Army.
Besides his wife, survivors include: two sons, James F. Lewis, Jr.,
Upper Deerfield Township and Robert H. Lewis and his wife Robin,
Pittsgrove; one brother, Joseph Shull, Bridgeton; two grandchildren, Jon
M. Lewis and Jason R. Lewis, both of Pittsgrove and his mother-in-law,
Esther B. Deguenther, Upper Deerfield Township. He was preceded in death
by a sister, Eleanor Austin and a brother, Harold Lewis.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Wednesday afternoon, June 28,
at 1:00 O’clock. Burial will be in the Cumberland County Veterans
Cemetery, Hopewell Township. A viewing will be held at funeral home on
Wednesday afternoon between 12:00 and 1:00 O’clock. Written condolences
