Ludwig Gutenkunst

Ludwig Gutenkunst, 84, of Hopewell Township, died at his home on Wednesday evening, March 1, 2006. He had been in failing health for the past 3 years.

The husband of Karoline Hartwein Gutenkunst, he was born in Sajkas-Szentivan, Yugoslavia and was the son of the late Jacob and Anna Geist Gutenkunst. He had been a Hopewell Township resident for over 40 years and prior to that had lived in Bridgeton.

Retired for the past 22 years, he had been employed with the former Murbeck Co. in Bridgeton for 10 years and prior to that with Rainear’s Dairy and Seabrook Farms.

Ludwig was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bridgeton and was a former trustee of the church. He was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Besides his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Reinhilde Knueppel, Virginia Beach, Va. and Anna Shimp, Upper Deerfield Township; one son, Dieter Gutenkunst, Bridgeton; one brother, John Gutenkunst, Aston, Pa.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Saturday morning, March 4, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Laurel Lawn Cemetery, Upper Deerfield Township. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock.
