Claritha “Retha” Hayes, 87, of Port
Norris, died at Genesis Elder Care, Millville Center on Friday, March
17, 2006, where she had been a resident for 2 ˝ years.
The wife of the late Henry J. Hayes, she was born in Vanburg, S. C. and
was the daughter of the late Neamiah and Lessie Hallman Ford. She had
been a resident of Port Norris for most of her life.
Before her retirement Retha had been self employed as a housekeeper for
several families in the Port Norris area and had also did cleaning
services for Port Norris Express and the Port Norris Post Office.
She was a member of the Community Church of the Living God in Port
Norris.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by several nieces and nephews and a close friend,
Lehma Gibson of Port Norris. She was predeceased by a brother, Bubba
Hallman and a sister Gladys Hallman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, March 27, at 11:00
O’clock, in the Community Church of the Living God, Strawberry Ave.,
Port Norris. A viewing will be held in the Church on Monday morning
between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Haleyville Cemetery,
Commercial Township. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the
