Bernice Mack, 76, of Pennsville, died
in South Jersey Regional Medical Center on Sunday, March 19, 2006. She
had been in failing health for the past year.
Bernice was born in Manning, S. C. on March 22, 1929 to the late Moses
and Rosa Lee Johnson Mack. She was the thirteenth of fourteen children,
eleven who preceded her in death. She was raised in a loving home
surrounded by her sisters and brothers and received most of her
education in the Manning School System.
In her teens she left home, first to New York and then to Philadelphia,
where she worked for years in the garment apparel industry. Moving once
again, she moved to Newtonville, N. J. where she resided until she
became ill. She lived at the Lindsay House in Pennsville until her
death.
Bernice enjoyed cooking for others, canning, preserving fruit and
vegetables and gardening. Everyone in the Newtonville area knew Bernice
and she will be missed.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Denise A. Ewin and
husband Gilbert of Millville; two grandsons, Clarence Cross Mack and
wife Rochelle, Gilbert E. Ewin, Jr. and his special friend Yvonne
Munson; one granddaughter, Yolanda Thomas-Malloy and husband Chris;
eight great grandchildren; two brothers, John Mack, High Point, N. C.
and William Mack, Canada; a sister, Ada of New York and many nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Friday morning, March 24, at
11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Fordville Memorial Park, Fairfield
Township. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning
between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. Written condolences may be sent to the
