Marion B. Morris

Marion B. Morris, age 80, of Deerfield Township died early Thursday evening, March 30, 2006 at South Jersey Extended Care in Bridgeton. She had been in declining health for the past five years.

Born in Bridgeton, the daughter of the late Eli and Anna Roberts Loatman, she was the wife of the late Charles T. Morris. She had lived at her present address for 36 years and prior to that had resided in Hopewell Township.

Mrs. Morris was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indians, and the Brotherton Tribe of Rancocas. She was the great granddaughter of Indian Ann Ashatoma who was the last living member of the Delaware Indians of whom there was a record. Indian Ann’s father was the last known Chief of the Delaware Tribe.

She is survived by five sons, Charles T. Morris, Jr. of Deerfield Township, Frank S. Morris of Washington Township, Brent E. Morris of Deerfield Township, Alan W. Morris of Las Vegas, NV and Dennis E. Morris of Thousand Oaks, CA; a sister, Betty Dunham of Elmer; seven grandchildren, Michelle Morris, Karen Morris, Lindsey Morris, Melanie Chapman, Samantha Morris, Alan Morris, Jr. and Dustin Morris and four great grandchildren, Danielle, Connor, Zachary and Zoey.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4th at 11 a.m. from the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township. Burial will be made at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions, in Mrs. Morris’ memory, to the American Diabetes Assoc., Southern New Jersey Office, 1060 North King’s Highway, Cherry Hill, N.
