Wilmer “Bill” Parker, also known to
many as “Older than Dirt” age 71, of Pittsgrove Township died Sunday
evening March 19, 2006 at his home after a brief illness.
Born in Bridgeton, the son of the
late Howard and Marion Cox Parker, he was the husband of the late
Elizabeth “Betty” Hess. He had been a Pittsgrove Township resident for
40 years and had lived in Vineland previous to that.
Before his retirement, Mr. Parker had
been employed as Custodian at the Schalick High School in Pittsgrove.
Prior to that he had worked at Orr’s Floor Coverings in Deerfield for
over 20 years.
Bill enjoyed traveling and the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, flower
gardening at his home, model trains and woodworking.
Survivors include a sister, Ada Mae
Anderson and her husband Paul of Bridgeton; dear friends, Harvey and
Jane Hall of Newport, James and Patricia Hall of Pittsgrove, Ramon and
Linda Herman of Elmer and Joan White of Bridgeton and a number of nieces
and nephews that loved him dearly. He was predeceased by a son, Byron H.
Parker, a brother, Robert J. Parker and two sisters, Esther M. Bourbon
and Emma VanPelt.
Funeral services will be held at the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township
on Saturday, March 25th at 11 a.m.
Cremation and inurnment will take
place at Laurel Lawn Crematory in Upper Deerfield Township.
Friends may call on Saturday from 10
to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks
that contributions in Bill’s memory be made to ARC of Cumberland County,
1680 West Sherman Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360.
